Responding to a security alarm from his Brazos County home last Tuesday after noon, a local lawman both surprised, and was surprised by, a familiar, but unauthorized person trying to leave.
Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk tells Navasota News that after a brief confrontation, Grimes County Sheriff’s deputy Michael Bewley was able to detain his god-son, 26-year-old Jesse James Musser after he allegedly stole a loaded revolver from the residence.
In his probable cause statement, Brazos County Sheriff’s investigator Salomon Hernandez reported finding evidence Musser gained entry by firing two rounds into the back door, but nobody was in the home at the time.
At last report, Musser was still residing in the Brazos County jail on a $35,000 bond, charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony and theft of a firearm. If convicted of both, the College Station resident could spend the rest of his life behind bars and face a $20,000 fine.
