Grimes County disaster declaration extended, ends May 9th

April 17, 2020 by Andre Perrard

Grimes County’s local disaster declaration has been extended for an extra period of time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It has expired, but we are asking that we retro approve it back to last week, when it initially ended, but, extended it 30 days, or when the opportunity comes to dismiss it earlier than that 30 day period,” said County Judge Joe Fauth at this week’s meeting of Commissioner’s Court.

He elaborated a bit more on what he meant by turning back the start date of the declaration.

“The request is that this declaration will be in effect the next 30 days, until lifted, and that 30 days would start back at April the ninth,” Fauth said.

With the start date being April 9th, the expiration date of the declaration would be set for May 9th, unless it is ended sooner.
