Grimes County Gives in Time of Need

December 15, 2014 by Willy1550

The County of Grimes once again outdid itself last Wednesday, as you and your neighbors donated more than ever before to the Brazos Valley Food bank’s annual Food for Families food drive.

Kbtx News Anchor Carla Castyo tells Navasota News, there was a lot of food and money donated this year. Even the smallest donors like the anderson-shiro elementary students gave more than 1,800 cans of food, and she says, that’s not just an increase. It’s a h-u-g-e increase!

Also three years ago, Castyo reports, Grimes County donated a total of $9,500. And this year that went up to $11,513 with each dollar providing three meals for one family.

Many want to donate, she adds, but, money can be tight this time of the year with the extra financial strain of buying gifts for loved ones.

So Castyo asks that Navasota News pass on thank-yous to everyone who gave what they could, to help their neighbor.
