Grimes County is included in an order for new restrictions, as coronavirus hospitalizations in Brazos County have increased.
According to the letter, which was sent to Brazos County Jude Duane Peters, the new restrictions include closing bars that generate at least 51 percent of revenue from alcohol sales, and reducing capacities in restaurants and businesses from 75 percent to 50 percent.
That is all due to GA-32, which focuses on trauma service areas with hospitalization rates over 15 percent for seven consecutive days.
County Judge in Grimes County, Joe Fauth, after gathering all information, released an executive order on Wednesday to reduce all businesses and restaurants in Grimes County to 50 percent capacity, and all bars ordered to close in the county.
He did note that, while hospitalizations themselves in Grimes County are not high, the county not having an Intensive Care Unit makes keeping track of that a bit difficult.
“How many of our folks went up to Bryan-College Station, or to Magnolia or Tomball…we do not have that information available. So, we do not know how many of our folks may be in those numbers. It is very difficult for us to receive that,” said Fauth.
The order also says no elective surgeries can be performed in the TSA, whose counties include Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson and Washington.
The COVID report for the county should be released this afternoon.
