Grimes County jail passes jail standards for 23rd straight year

For the 23rd consecutive year, the Grimes County jail has passed jail standards.

Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell said an unannounced surprise inspection was performed November 22nd.

A six hour inspection was meat with a passing grade, which included looking at facilities, auditing, and numerous other procedures.

Sowell said in a statement, in part, “a special and heartfelt thanks to our jail staff for the dedicated efforts Monday and throughout the years.”
