Grimes County Judge Elaborates On The Brazos Valley Council Of Governments’ Renewed Opposition To Texas Central’s High Speed Rail Project

November 14, 2023 by Julie Peters

The Brazos Valley Council Of Governments (BVCOG) renewed it’s opposition to Texas Central’s High Speed Rail Project.

The resolution did not receive a unanimous vote among the city and county leaders from the 7 county region.

College Station Mayor, John Nichols, asked the purpose of renewing a resolution that was originally adopted in 2016.

Grimes County Judge Joe Fauth, explains.

According to the resolution from BVCOG Against The Texas Central High Speed Rail Project, there is continued opposition to using “eminent domain,” and a belief that the project will not meet the threshold of public benefit that historically justifies the use of “eminent domain.”
