Grimes County Justice Center slated for likely mid-December opening, according to project manager

November 8, 2021 by Willy1550

The construction at the Grimes County Justice Center continues, even amidst the rain of last week. But, after moths of being pushed back, is there an actual expected date for its grand opening?

County Building Maintenance manager, and Project Manager Al Peeler, gave a brief update at the November 3rd meeting of Commissioner’s Court.

“They have told me that substantial completion…they are shooting for December 1st. As your project manager…I am not relying on that date. I will push them to that date, but we have a lot of work to do between now and then,” Peeler said.

“In my professional opinion, I think it is going to be a little later in December.”

Peeler added that concrete has been poured, and final fixes and touches are being done on the interior.

Furniture is scheduled to begin moving into the building on November 15th.
