A search warrant for stolen property Wednesday near Carlos resulted in the arrest of a local man, and recovered thousands of dollars in stolen items.
According to the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, alongside detectives from Texas A&M University Police, they executed that warrant on County Road 174 in Grimes County, near Carlos between Iola and Anderson.
Grimes County detectives had received information recently from UPD investigators regarding Joseph Adam McBride of Anderson having stolen property where he resides on that road. They received that search warrant for the property, after McBride was taken into custody the same day for hauling a stolen trailer out of Austin.
Upon searching the property, investigators found $70,000 worth of stolen goods, which included a 2020 bumper pull travel trailer, stolen 2018 Ford Sedan, stolen 2019 Kawasaki motorcycle, stolen 2015 Yamaha moped, and a stolen enclosed cargo trailer.
McBride was booked in the Grimes County jail, and charged with Theft of Property $2,500 > $30,000 (state jail felony), and Theft of Property $30,000 > $150,000 (third degree felony).
The Sheriff’s Office noted that additional charges are being sough against McBride.
