Grimes County officials remind citizen’s fines can be incurred for fires caused by fireworks July 4th weekend

June 30, 2022 by Andre Perrard

Reminder from the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office about fire works this coming July 4th weekend.

Fireworks are not prohibited under the current burn ban in Grimes County, however, if a fire is caused by fireworks, fines up to $500 can still be incurred.

The Emergency Management Office asks to wait lighting fireworks until after the burn ban has been lifted. Three fires have been reported in Grimes County this week, with one the cause of an illegal burn which torched 10 acres.

For more information, contact the county.
