May 5, 2023 by Willy1550

In recent years, the Grimes County jail has had agreements with other counties and cities to house their inmates when needed for a flat fee of $50 per day per inmate. At Wednesday’s Commissioner’s Court meeting, Chief Martha Smith from the Sheriff’s Office asked the court to change the rate in the Interlocal Agreement

The court approved changing the interlocal agreement from a fee of $50 to $75 per day per inmate, and that 75% the funds will be allocated for Capital Improvement Projects at the jail and 25% will be allocated for costs associated with housing inmates. The court also designated the Grimes County Judge as signatory.
