Grimes County R&B Admin Resigns

October 12, 2016 by Willy1550

For the second time in just over a year, the County of Grimes is without a Road and Bridge Administrator today, as the embattled Greg Blake tendered his resignation to County Judge Ben Lehman, Friday morning, effective that noon.

Blake’s resignation came just hours before a special meeting of County Commissioners had been called to, quote, deliberate the job performance of the Road and Bridge Administrator, and take action regarding the employment of same, up to and including removal. Close quotes.

Recently, Blake was called to the carpet by the Judge for postings on a Facebook page he’d begun for the County’s Road and Bridge Department.  In a Commissioners Court session kept open to the public at Blake’s request, the Judge pointed out, and Blake eventually agreed to edit, some postings that went beyond facts to editorializing, and others that could possibly be misinterpreted.

After Friday’s meeting was cancelled, Lehman assured Navasota News it had not been called to fire Blake, but he admitted he’d compiled a list of concerns about Blake’s performance he’d intended to share with the court behind closed doors.

The judge had no further comment, except to wish Blake the best in his future endeavors.  Blake, however, had a full page entitled, “To The Residents of Grimes County,” that surrogates passed out to those congregated around Friday’s “session cancelled” sign.
