Just as we report a week ago that the Pinebrook Drive extension is dragging along, the Road and Bridge department has been cleared to go out for bids.
Engineer Harry Walker said at Wednesday’s Commission meeting says while the bid process is starting, and they bought the land for the project, it falls under the umbrella of the government…
“It is only about 500 feet of road, parcel we bought is about 175 feet long, but the bulk of the length actually falls in the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TXDOT) right-of-way. That is why we are going out for a contractor to deal with this. I do not really want our crews trying to do work to TXDOT’s criteria,” said Walker.
“Amen,” replied County Judge Joe Fauth.
Walker did not mention the timeline for bids, or when construction will begin. Most recently, in December, he said the project could go beyond summertime.
Also noted by Walker was while the numbers might be close, they do have enough budgeted for the project.
