Grimes County school districts extend spring break

School district across Grimes County have canceled school next week.

Navasota ISD, Iola ISD, Richards ISD and Anderson-Shiro CISD, all four districts have extended spring break through the week of March 16-20 due to COVID-19 concerns. That includes closure and cancellation of all school facilities, athletics and extra curricular activities.

There are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Grimes County, but the districts said they made the for caution of the students, staff and community.

During the meeting with the district, the Health District highly recommended that families do not travel outside the home area during the week off from school.

Navasota ISD has said that beginning on Tuesday, March 17th, Grab and Go breakfast and lunches will be made available at Webb and High Point elementary’s from 10 am to noon each day. They will have drive thru services available as well.

Each district said the situation will be monitored on a week by week basis, and they will stay in contact with local emergency management authorities.
