Grimes County school districts keeping COVID policies in effect for now

March 4, 2021 by Willy1550

Following Governor Greg Abbott’s announcement of easing restrictions in the state, school districts were left in the dark on what to do until Wednesday.

The Texas Education Agency announced that current mask policies can stay in effect, with the choice being up to the school districts.

As for what the deal is here in grimes County, the biggest district, Navasota ISD, says all the current policies remain in effect. The district says they will address the issue when they learn more, and will make decisions on policies in the near future.

Iola ISD made an announcement on Wednesday afternoon that all their current policies remain in effect as well. Superintendent Scott Martindale says that the school board will make their decisions, and post them on Iola social media, and send out a release announcing their decisions.

Anderson Shiro CISD, and Richards ISD, have yet to make statements on their plans.
