Grimes County Sheriff’s Office Gets Approval To Apply For Grants For Equipment

At Wednesday’s meeting of Commissioners Court, Chief Martha Smith from the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, spoke to the court about applying for two separate grants, a Mobile License Plate Reader and ballistic shields.

The second grant is for 26 ballistic shields for deputies to carry in their cruisers.

Chief Smith said they had to apply for the ballistic shields now but, if approved, they would not receive them until 2025.

Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the Sheriff’s Office to apply for both grants.
