Grimes County Sheriff’s Office promotes Sergeant Martha Smith to Lieutenant

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office has promoted one of their officers to Lieutenant.

Sergeant Martha Smith, who has been with the office for 19 years, was named Lieutenant by Sheriff Don Sowell last weekend.

Smith has served in a variety of roles, including Administrative Assistant, School Resource Officer, and has served as the Law Enforcement Liason on the Grimes County Crimestoppers board. She also serves as the Secretary of the True Blue Foundation. She was named Officer of the Year by Crimestoppers in 2005.

She also played a pivotal role in the recovery of 3 year old Christopher Ramirez in late 2021., providing not only comfort, but was the voice for the Ramirez family.

Lieutenant Smith received numerous accolades as well, for her work during the search for Christopher.
