A grant from the Brazos Valley Council of Governments, or BVCOG, is going to help citizen’s clean up Grimes County in the Fall.
At the most recent Commissioner’s Court meeting, Environmental Coordinator Kat Lee says that $12,300 is available through the solid waste grant, and that sets up a three week cleanup event this October.
“First weekend of October at the Stoneham site and Whitehall site, we will have roll-off containers, and a tire trailer in Stoneham. The next weekend, we will be in Bedias, with a roll-off in Iola. We are partnering with the City of Bedias. They are going to supply us with personnel to man the site. We do not have a big enough dump site in Bedias to support a tire trailer, the open tops, and have them contained inside a fence,” said Lee.
“So, Bedias is going to provide personnel around the clock, 24 hours, while the event is ongoing through the weekend And that will allow us to have our first tire trailer up in Bedias.”
The event will wrap up with both a roll-off and tire trailer in Anderson the third weekend. There is a limit of 5 tires per family, and tractor tires will be accepted.
Regular hours of operation will be ongoing for each site during the event.
Bulk items not accepted are appliances, pressurized containers such as propane tanks, or electronics.
