Grimes County Treasurer Jim-Bob Trant passes away

Newly-elected Grimes County treasurer Jim-Bob Trant has passed away.

According to the Grimes County Judge Joe Fauth, Trant was hospitalized on Tuesday, and passed away shortly after, around 9:50 am that morning. No further details were made immediately available.

Jim-Bob Trant took over for his mother, Janice Trant, who passed away August 7th following complications with COVID-19. On August 26th, Jim-Bob was unanimously selected to fill the remainder of his mothers term, which expired December of 2020.

Jim-Bob Trant, the Republican candidate, had recently won in the November 3rd general election against Democratic candidate Tara Gamble.
