The new state representative for Grimes County, Kyle Kacal of College Station, says he has received plenty of mail from one segment of the state prison system.
“As soon as the redistricting lines were drawn, and Huntsville was put into House District 12…I think our email crashed because we found out that no one over there is rightly incarcerated,” said Kacal.
His first legislative update on WTAW’s The Infomaniacs included a desire to learn more about the Department of Criminal Justice.
“I mentioned corrections because of my new ‘gated community’ I represent over in Walker County…it is something not in my wheelhouse, and I want to be able to understand it. I want to help that community, because it is a big part of who Walker County is, and will be here on out,” Kacal said.
Kacal has asked to remain a member of the House Natural Resources Committee, which, among other things, focuses on the state’s water supply.
