Grimes may get Mystery Business

June 2, 2018 by Willy1550

Grimes County Commissioners spend nearly a half hour recently revising its 381 Guidelines, specifying qualifications for a potential two-year property tax abatement, or grant, or, as County Attorney Jon C. Fultz called it, a giveaway.

Fultz reminded the court of its original intent when it initially adopted its first guidelines at the request of the City of Navasota, who was looking for county incentives to add to its own to bring a new businesses here.

Precinct Three Commissioner Barbara Walker said that’s still what the county has in mind, disclosing it’s been approached by an unnamed, potentially 50 million dollar project.

Walker reported the facility would provide jobs with starting pay of $75,000, and $40,000 part-time, for potentially 25 to 35 jobs upon its arrival.

So the court unanimously adopted the revisions, effective immediately.  We’ll have more for you on this so-far mysterious potential Grimes County facility, later, here on Navasota News.
