Helping Kids Learn

July 15, 2015 by Willy1550

The Navasota Independent School District is partnering both with the city and the new group, For The Love of Grimes County, to combat current literacy and comprehension issues with a reading program.

The districts Ronnie Gonzalez tells Navasota News, if kids complete this program, it will increase their vocabulary and understanding. And hopefully make state-mandated test scores go up.

Gonzalez says when the Intermediate School was introduced to the program, its library quickly witnessed a spike in reading and even started seeing success in other reading initiatives as a result.

And even though the campaign is temporarily on hold for the summer, he hopes you can take just 20 minutes out of every day to read with your kids. Do that, Gonzalez promises, and they will get smarter, and you will never forget the time spent with them.
