A Christmas Day crash led to a Hempstead woman being trapped in her vehicle near Navasota.
According to authorities, a woman became trapped after hitting an 18 wheeler. A 2003 Freight-liner was hauling metal roof supplies and had just left Hilco Metal Roofing south of Navasota and began travelling northbound on Highway 6 around 8:30 am.
The other driver was in a 2001 Toyota Corolla travelling Northbound on Highway 6 when she struck the 18 wheeler in the rear as she began speeding up.
Navasota fire department worked to free the woman, who was identified as 42 year old Blanca Estela Salinas Munoz of Hempstead, originally from Shoreline, Washington.
She was airlifted to CHI St. Joseph in Bryan in critical condition. The driver of the 18 wheeler was not reported to have injuries.
The accident remains under investigation and Munoz’s current condition is unknown.
