A local Navasota high school student is a champion welder.
Navasota ISD says that this weekend, students from the Ag program traveled to Houston for the Elite Welding Academy Championship. Students from around the state arrived, and were asked to compete in laying out and fabricating a test piece from a blue print.
Navasota’s own Alexander Silvan placed 1st overall in the competition, taking home the championship.
Silvan also received a $4,000 scholarship for his efforts.
