Nighttime lane closures begin tonight, as the completion of new bridges nears on Highway 105 west of Navasota.
Those lane closures begin tonight, January 25th, and will continue Monday through Thursday for the next two weeks, according to the TXDOT Bryan District Office. The closures are for the lead abatement on the Brazos River bridge, ahead of its demolition.
The project for the new bridges began as a $23 million dollar project in May 2014, and swelled to more than $33 million dollars. Delays in the project have been attributed to record rainfall in 2016, and then Hurricane Harvey rains the following year.
TXDOT in Bryan says that traffic will move to the new bridges over the Brazos and Navasota Rivers, plus Cole Creek, at the end of February.
The demolition of the old bridge, and completing tie-ins to the new bridges, is expected to take several months to finish.
