Highway 6 bridge repairs, traffic delays at Navasota River expected to take four months

January 19, 2023 by Andre Perrard

For those hoping the northbound Highway 6 traffic at the Navasota River bridge was temporary: alas, it is not.

TXDOT says that construction began January 9th on phase one of the project. That will include replacing the bridge rail on the west side of the highway, closing the left lane. Phase two will begin right after, where the east side rail will be replaced. That will close the right lane for the duration of that phase.

In addition, the ramp from Business 6 to get onto northbound Highway 6 will be closed, with a traffic detour going through FM 3090.

In all, the expected duration is 4 months, weather permitting.

TXDOT says the $845,000 project will help improve the longevity of the bridge.
