Both Grimes and Madison Counties Sheriff’s Departments are out on the hunt today, looking for those who desecrated Grimes County’s historic Bethel Cemetery in late June.
Grimes County Sheriff’s Lt. Ryan Rutledge tells Navasota News, after cemetery caretakers found the remnants of a party in poor taste over the weekend, they notified both departments.
Rutledge says, there were beer cans strewn across the grounds, grave stones destroyed, and in one case, even thrown into burn piles along with a table.
Even some Texas flags were stolen from Bethel, which is, coincidentally, the final resting place of the creator of that flag; Sarah Dodson.
As the investigation is ongoing, and Rutledge asks, if you have any information, please call the local sheriff’s office, at 873-2151.
