One new neighborhood near Anderson is imposing a lower speed limit.
“We have received a request from the Holland Ridge Home Owner’s Association requesting that speed limits in that subdivision be lowered to 20 miles per hour,” said Road and Bridge Engineer Harry Walker speaking at last week’s meeting of Commissioner’s Court.
Robert Malin, the president of the Holland Ridge HOA, explained the reasoning for their request.
“The amount of traffic that continues through the neighborhood…we recently had an event for Halloween. Not realizing the sheer amount of kids in the neighborhood…it was determined that we need some speed limit signs posted in there,” said Malin. “We have a lot of construction vehicles going in and out…the neighborhood is still growing. If the speed limit signs are not in place, these trucks will just keep passing through at high speeds.”
Walker was asked about having a separate construction entrance for the neighborhood, to deter trucks from the main road. But, he said since it is a private roadway, the county cannot tell them to do so.
