Houston duo arrested in Hempstead after AT&T store robbery

July 31, 2019 by Andre Perrard

Two Houston men accused of breaking into AT&T store in Bryan have been arrested in Hempstead thanks to help from modern technology.

On Sunday night, police responded to the AT&T store after an alarm sounded. The pair cut through the sheetrock, going through ceiling tiles to reach the managers office. Form there, they got into the store and stole multiple phones and other items.

Police said that 30 phones and 2 apple watches were taken, a total of $24,608, and in addition, $1,593 in cash was taken.

Authorities say AT&T helped in a big way, thanks to clear video and the ability to track the stolen phones. Officers followed the duo all the way to Hempstead where they were eventually pulled over. Investigators said the two denied knowing about the theft. Stolen property was allegedly found in the car along with sheetrock residue. Most of the stolen items were recovered and returned to the store.

Police say that two did about $10,000 in damage to the AT&T store.

The two men were identified as 27 year old McKindley Allen and 23 year old Daleon Fontennet. Both are facing charges of burglary of a building, theft of property and unlawful use of a criminal instrument. The two remain in the Brazos county Jail on bonds totaling $75,000.
