Navasota Police are looking into multiple shootings in town last week.
As first reported by the Navasota Examiner, Officers responded to the 300 block of North LaSalle a verbal altercation between two groups on September 1st. Upon leaving the scene and separating the two groups, their arguments escalated through the night, eventually leading to hots being fired.
According to Navasota PD, that night, officers were dispatched to West Virginia Street, where they heard gunshots from a few blocks away. Investigation found empty shell casings at Felder and Willie Street.
Later that evening, officers were sent to the 500 block of East Dickson, where they observed a car with several bullet holes in it. The owner said a group of men shot toward him, but no one was injured.
While there, another shooting was reported in the 500 block of Johnson Street. There, police found a residence riddled with bullet holes. The residents said the bullets came close, but no one was struck. During the investigation of that scene, officers saw a car, which matched the description of the car seen shooting on Dickson Street.
That car was followed to Laredo Street, where officers made contact with the driver, who had an outstanding warrant for evading arrest in Brazos County, and was arrested. He was identified as 28 year old Afron Taylor of Navasota.
A search of Taylor’s vehicle found firearms, narcotics, and other items. One firearm was confirmed stolen from another county, and the narcotics were determined to be MDMA, Xanax, and Marijuana.
Authorities issued warrants against Taylor for three counts of Deadly Conduct, three counts of aggravated assault, possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 2, possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 3, possession of Marijuana under 2 ounces, possession of a stolen firearm, and unlawful carrying of a firearm.
