Iola ISD has their graduation ceremony set for the 2020 senior class.
In a letter to the district last week, superintendent Scott Martindale said the original date of June 27th is now pushed for this Saturday, June 6th at 8 pm.
Iola high School principal Brian Fowler, at the most recent Iola School Board meeting, said that the set up should comply with the TEA restrictions.
“We walked it off…we think there will be enough room in the stadium for everyone and their allotment,” said Martindale.
Similar to other districts, the graduates will be limited to 10 guests. There will also be health questionnaires for attendees, and if they show any symptoms listed, they will be excluded from the event. Face masks are allowed, but not required.
While the seniors will get a graduation ceremony after a hectic year, they will be missing out on a couple of other big, traditional events, as the 2020 Senior Prom has been canceled along with the 2020 Senior Class trip.
Iola ISD has back up dates in place for graduation, in case of weather, set for June 8th, and June 9th.
