An Iola man caught smoking meth in a park bathroom is in jail on new drug charges and for violating a criminal trespass order.
College Station Police say that happened Saturday in the very early morning hours, around 2 am. An officer began a patrol of Bee Creek Park, which is closed to the public from 1 am until 5 am. Inside a bathroom stall, officers found 29 year old Johnathan Garrett Compian of Iola.
Compian had an active Criminal Trespass warrant for that park and was immediately detained. Upon searching him, officers found a handheld torch lighter. When they searched the stall he had been inside, they found a black sock, which produced a glass meth pipe, and a glass vial with methamphetamine.
Compian denied the contents were his, but admitted to being the only one in the bathroom. He was arrested, and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 in a Drug Free Zone, and Criminal Trespass. He remains jailed in lieu of bonds totaling $14,000. It is his third time in jail on Criminal Trespass charges since October 2021.
