Iola man jailed after slapping girlfriend, stopped by witness with pistol

March 2, 2022 by Willy1550

An Iola man is in the Brazos County jail after being accused of slapping his girlfriend across the face.

The arrest report from Bryan PD says officers responded to a call for a fight on College Main, where the found a woman crying. She advised that her boyfriend, 25 year old Kyle Daniel Pelka of Iola, had slapped her. Officers could see a red mark on her face, with marks indicative of a handprint. She also told officers her vision went black for a moment afterward, and her face felt numb.

The woman told officers they were walking, when Pelka became angry for no apparent reason. Witnesses to the incident heard the woman scream, followed by Pleka scream, “this is your fault.” The witness grabbed his pistol and went to the scene. He intervened, and according to the arrest report, Pelka approached the man with a closed fist, saying “what are you going to do?”

The witness racked his pistol to chamber a round, and upon observing this, Pleka left the scene.

Pelka was arrested a short time later for Assault Family violence Causing Bodily Injury, and remains in jail on bonds totaling $5,000.
