February 3, 2021 by Willy1550

A couple members of the Iola volleyball team have been named to the Texas Sports Writers Association 2A all-state team.

The released teams are based on voting from sports writers across the state.

Iola head coach Jamie McDougald was named the Coach of the Year after the Lady Bulldogs state championship.
Player of the year in Class 2A was Cadence Hoyle of Iola, who was also first team all-state as an outside hitter.

Joining her on the first team all-state team was Jenna McDougald at outside hitter, and Libero Brooke Smithey. Voted second team all-state as setter was Ava Pointer.

Iola’s win over Crawford was the schools third overall state volleyball championship.
