IT Director for Grimes County warns of hackers attempting to steal identities

November 3, 2020 by Andre Perrard

Grimes County officials are warning of increases in hackers and cyber terrorists trying to steal identities.

According to a post from County IT Director Gregg Cannon on Facebook, there has been a significant increase in recent days in these hackers trying to steal identities, take over computers, and manipulate the election.

They are asking citizen’s to take extra precaution, and be vigilant when on the internet or checking email via smart phone or computer.

According to the post, if you are not 100% sure about the validity of an email you receive, or link you receive via email or text, delete it immediately and do not click it.

In addition, make sure the computer is protected by anti-virus software, and make sure the computer is up to date on software.
