The new County Judge was the first to make public remarks at the first regular Commissioners Court session of the new year. Ben Lehman said he’ll be treating every session like it’s a board of directors meeting of the county’s business.
His approach, he said, will be to treat every commissioner, elected official and staff member with respect.
Lehman also said that, though it’s not required by law, under his command, public comments will continue to be heard at every session, and he will require at least a week lead-time on all proposed contracts, to give the court time to look them over thoroughly.
He then explained, he will be casting a vote every time the rest of the court does.
Judge Lehman then announced the canvassing of this week’s special election in the courthouse jury room this Friday morning at 9.
