Leman Says State Worried About Property Rights Too

March 11, 2015 by Willy1550

When it comes to Texas Central Rail’s plans for the County of Grimes, County Judge Ben Leman says state officials are just as concerned about maintaining the property rights of Grimes County land owners as are the property owners themselves.

Just returned from the state capital, Judge Leman tells Navasota News that when he was questioned about his support for the 249 project, he said the high speed rail line wouldn’t bring enough benefits to the county. But, he maintains the toll road, while regrettable in itself, could bring with it both jobs and money that the county desperately needs, so long as it would also include feeder roads into Grimes.

Speaking of the county’s needs, Leman reports the list of the it’s allies just got larger after he helped merge two anti-TCR groups into one, now called Texans Against Hsr.

In fact there are so many groups against TCR, he goes on, that the merger had become a necessity, in order that concerned citizens would hear a consistent message. And, in turn, have a better chance of being heard in Austin.

Watch this space, as and there’ll certainly be more to come later. And we’ll let you know when it does, right here on Navasota News.
