Katy man pulled over for reckless driving through Grimes County facing drug and weapon charges

April 20, 2022 by Willy1550

A reckless driver call near the Grimes County line on Highway 6 on Monday morning lands a Katy man in jail on a slew of drug and weapons charges.

The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office says they got the call around 10 am for the man driving, who was acting “really odd,” while driving northbound over the FM 159 overpass. Officers followed him to the Southern Pointe exit, and eventually pulled him over for a few traffic violations. The arrest report says the man was visibly shaking, unable to retrieve his driver’s license, and when asked if he had drugs, alcohol or weapons, he noted he had a gun in the vehicle.

It was then advised his license had been ineligible since 2018, and was detained. A search of his vehicle yielded pills of Adderall, erectile dysfunction pills, and ecstasy.

39 year old Jerald Joseph Leach of Katy was taken to the Brazos County jail. He faces charges of Driving with License Invalid, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 2, Possession of a Dangerous Drug, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. Leach was released after posting a $20,000 bond.
