Navasota has a youngster competing for World Championships in karate.
Lilian Mahan was recently in Detroit, Michigan, according to KickStart Kids Master Benjamin Mendez, and says she had to place in her events to advance to the World Championships in October, and make Team USA.
“This is for what is called the WKC, or World Karate Conference…she competed in six different divisions, and placed in all six divisions. So, she will be moving forward to the championships, and represent Team USA this year,” Mendez said.
He said plenty of his pupils were also traveling this summer, bringing back a championship from a competition in Georgia.
But all in all, he says hes pumped for the new students he has this year in Navasota.
“We have 120 kids that came back this year, about 60 of them who have never done martial arts before…we are excited to see how they grow in our martial arts program,” said Mendez.
He added that newly constructed KickStart Kids Do-Jo has taken some time to adjust to, but that the kids and he love it.
