School may be out, but Navasota’s KickStart Kids continue to train daily, allowing them to compete at, and bring medals home from another four competitions here in Texas and another in New Nampshire.
Starting-off, Master Ben Mendez says, was student Lillian Mahan who brought home two Bronze Medals and two Top Five Finishes from the Centex Open in Austin last April, then traveled to League City with one of his Black Belt students, Miss Raven Dickerson on May 6th, for the Battle at the Bay, then on to Houston where nine local students come home with medals from one of the biggest events in the Country.
Then another dozen local KickStart Kids (including Mendez’s daughter, Grace) were victorious earlier this month in Stafford at the Clash of the Champions, while Morgan Smith was taking a half dozen awards all by herself at the New England Open.
And if you’d like to check out these young champs in training for yourself, Mendez suggests you drop by the Navasota Junior High Gym from 9 to noon any Monday through Thursday this month and watch him put them through their paces at this year’s KickStart Kids Camp.
