Military helicopters passing over Navasota lately has caused enough chatter to get folks asking the city what it is all about.
So, what is it? Member of the Airport Advisory Board Michael Dearing explained at last night’s city council meeting.
“There are Blackhawks that do fly around regularly, there is a National Guard base in Conroe, and they do training in the area. Sometimes, I also see them flying, especially at night, out at Easterwood, and occasionally around here,” said Dearing. “It is almost always for their training.”
In his update to council as well, Dearing says the investment put into the airfield is finally seeing results.
“In 2022, there were 77 airplanes based at the airport. Six are twin engine, seven are turbo-prop or jets, and there are three there currently building their own airplanes,” Dearing said.
Since 2017, fuel volume sales at the airport have tripled, and the last year saw a 15% increase in sales.
