The search for a missing 3 year old Plantersville boy continues into the second full day, as the FBI and Homeland Security join the efforts.
Christopher Ramirez was reported missing to the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office around 2 pm Wednesday afternoon. He was last seen near his home, in the 10000 block of Deer Park Lane, within the rural Foxfire Subdivision in Plantersville.
When he was last seen, Christopher was in his yard, when he chased after the neighbors dog, with whom he was familiar. His mother and grandmother, who operate a mobile food business and were unloading their truck at the time, chased after him but lost sight. The mother called law enforcement about 15 minutes after she could not find Christopher.
Search dogs are being used, where they followed a scent trail to a small pond, then lost track. An overnight search of the pond with boats and sonar dive crews produced no signs of Christopher. Drones have also assisted, alongside numerous local law enforcement agencies.
Through the afternoon Thursday, authorities drained the pond that dogs led them to, but found no evidence of Christopher. Sheriff Don Sowell added that they have searched 3 small bodies of water, plus all swimming pools and homes in the area. The child’s father lives in Mexico, according to Sowell, and he has been in contact with the Mexican consulate, with them willing to assist if needed. They are also expanding the search area gradually.
He said they will continue searching until they find him.
“No outcries of a three year old being hungry after three hours…I do not care what language they speak, they are hungry, thirsty, they will cry out. We have not heard that, to be quite frank about it. Nighttime, he is hungry and scared, we have headlights, flashlights. No outcry that any body heard. That is what is heartbreaking,” said Sowell, speaking to media on Thursday.
Christopher is a Hispanic male, about 3 feet tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen in a bright green shirt, shorts of unknown color, and red and white Mickey Mouse shoes.
Foul play is not suspected at this time, as the ongoing search continues. We will update you with more as we get it here.
