According to a press release from the Grimes County District Attorney’s Office, on June 21st of this year Navasota PD located a stolen vehicle at R&R Auto Repair in Navasota.
During a search of that business, along with ATF, DPS and a Bryan PD Narcotics Officer, officials found methamphetamine and over 4 pounds of marijuana. The owner of the business, Leonardo “Leo” Perez, was arrested.
Perez pled guilty to possession of a controlled substance, a 2nd Degree felony, and pled true to a punishment enhancement related to a previous felony conviction for delivery of cocaine.
During the punishment phase, the jury learned that Leo Perez was connected to the Cartel and the MS-13 gang.
After 45 minutes of deliberation, the jury returned with a sentence of 50 years in prison and a $100,000 fine. Perez is awaiting transfer to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
