The congressman representing Grimes County decides not to continue chairing the House foreign affairs committee. Michael McCaul told the Washington Examiner that with a second Trump administration coming into office, not chairing the committee will allow him to speak more freely should he disagree.
McCaul also told the Examiner not chairing the committee will give him time to work with think tanks, do fireside chats, and write articles.
McCaul finishes two years chairing foreign affairs after chairing the homeland security committee for six years. He remains a member of both committees.
