Some local ham radio jocks are looking for other enthusiasts to join them this weekend; to chat in person or over the air-waves, and in times of disaster, keep the lines of communication flowing.
Grimes County Amateur Radio Group (or GCARG) President Mike Silcox says, in an emergency, this old-school tech rates a bit higher than the standard cell phone.
Silcox tells Navasota News the group has a steady handful of regular members but believes scores of more ham radio operators continue to dot the county.
The group is starting to gain momentum, he continues, as more residents and enthusiasts drop by the groups meetings.
So if you either have a ham radio or are just interested, consider yourself invited the next grimes county amateur radio group meeting at 10 Saturday morning October 15th in the Navasota Center. For more go to www.gcoarg.com
