Local Salvation Army hotline set up for those overcome with worry, stress

April 2, 2020 by Willy1550

If you are in need of emotional and spiritual support during these uncertain times, there is a new, local hotline you can call.

Paul Ryerson, the BCS Salvation Army captain, says they established it to meet a big need.

“Since the COVID-19 pandemic has happened in the United States, the National Suicide Prevention hotline calls have increased by 300 percent,” said Ryerson.

Salvation Army Officers and trained employees will offer assistance to people who are feeling overwhelmed by current events.

‘It could be the struggling mother, who now all of the sudden has to be the educator, provider, or people calling in who have just lost everything,” said Ryerson. “They’ve lost a loved one to this pandemic, or they have lost their job.”

The number, which is staffed every day between eight a.m. and eight p.m., is 844-458-HOPE (844-458-4673). The number is also online at w-t-a-w dot com.
