Navasota’s Fledgling Boys to Men Program I starting to take shape after a score of concerned local men stepped forward at it’s first meeting, eager to know how they could help our troubled youth find their way home.
Boys to Men’s Jose Maldinado tells Navasota News, one in every three of our young men comes from a fatherless home. They are falling behind in school and have a greater chance of ending up behind bars.
But Pastor Maldinado continues, other schools have reported a major turnaround after programs like Boys to Men started.
And after revealing these statistics he says, the gathered gents decided upon a set of positive characteristics they want to instill in the next generation of men.
Of the nearly two-dozen men who came out to express an interest in mentoring, some offered to give the kids experiences, such as camping, ranching and even a trip to a ropes course.
And if you missed the last meeting, don’t worry as the Navasota Boys to Men will be meeting once again in the Navasota Center at 6:30pm Tuesday March 24th for another hamburger social. For more call 936-870-5069.
