A man from Madisonville, who was recently accused of assaulting a Madisonville officer, has been arrested after trying to flee from police and leaving two small children behind.
Police were attempting to serve a warrant on Monday for 35 year old Terry Sherman Jr. of Madisonville at his home. That’s when officers say that Sherman climbed out a window and fled. Upon fleeing, he left two children between the ages of one and two in the house alone.
Authorities eventually found Sherman hiding in a nearby barn. He was arrested and charged with evading arrest and endangering a child alongside the initial assault warrant.
On March 4, Sherman was pulled over by a Madisonville Police Officer. During the stop, Sherman attempted to choke the officer and assaulted her, tearing a ligament in her finger and leaving bruising. Sherman was coerced out by gunpoint a short time after hiding in a nearby home.
Sherman remains in the Madison County Jail.
