SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ Fire officials say a man has died after a 3,500-pound bag of sand fell on him at a San Antonio warehouse.
San Antonio Fire Department spokesman Christian Bove says the accident happened Monday morning and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was spotting for a forklift driver when the bag fell from an unspecified location and height. The sand is used in hydraulic fracturing, or fracking.
Authorities say the man was in his early 60s. He hasn’t been identified. He worked for Chalk Mountain Services, an oilfield transportation company leasing space in the building.
The San Antonio Police Department is investigating what caused the bag to fall.
