Man pleads guilty to 2016 Grimes County murder

August 12, 2019 by Andre Perrard

The suspect in a 2016 murder in Grimes County has pleaded guilty to murder.

According to a press release from the Grimes County District Attorney’s Office, 22 year old Tyrus Peters pleaded guilty to the murder of David Brown.

The body of Brown was found off County Road 306 after the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence. Constable Blake Jarvis, then a Captain at the Sheriff’s Office, led an investigation alongside the DA’s Office and the Texas Rangers.

It was determined that Peters shot Brown at a residence in Stoneham over a debt.

Peters accepted a plea of guilty sand a 15 year prison sentence. He was offered the same plea once, but it was rejected. The case was tried before a Grimes County jury in 2017, but resulted in a hung jury.

Peters remains in custody at the Grimes County Jail.
