Man rescued from high water in Grimes County early Monday

April 29, 2019 by Willy1550

Multiple agencies were involved in rescuing a man Monday morning in Grimes County from high water.

Brazos County sheriff’s chief deputy Jim Stewart says a College Station man who owns land in Grimes County was returning home from his property on Democrat Road, when just after the Navasota River his large pickup got stuck in two to four feet of water.

“We ended up doing the rescue by using a piece of fire apparatus to reach his truck, then extracted him through the passenger side,” said Stewart.

The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office along with fire departments from Bryan and volunteer fire departments responded to the scene.

Stewart says the driver was checked by medics at the scene, then he was given a courtesy ride home by a deputy.
